Sermon Take Away: “Look Up”

Genesis 9:8-17; Isaiah 40:8; Hebrews 12:2

Our God is infinite in love and power. He knows all things and he does all things. His plan for the world is beyond human understanding. With the death of the Queen Elizabeth and the change of command in England, it is a reminder that God is in all things. There was a beautiful rainbow seen in an area where she lived. Rainbow, as written in the scriptures, is a reminder of the covenant that God made with Noah that the earth would not be destroyed by water again. Looking up is a reminder that God is still on his throne and his many promises will be fulfilled. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”

God promised Jacob that he would be with him, that he would guide him, that he would not forsake him and that he would bless him. Those promise continue to today in his people. When we look up and see the beautiful endless skies, it is there that we can see his wonders and turn to his word for continual strength, wisdom and guidance.

When we look up, our thoughts turn to God, who is the authority of the world. Our hearts are filled with love for the eternal hope of salvation that is in Jesus Christ, the Savior of our souls. Our Holy Spirit rejoices because He knows the promises of God will come to pass. God has revealed his will by his Spirit.

God knows about every leadership position. Whether his divine will or his permissive will, his will for the world will come to pass. He remains in full control. Continue to look up for the promises of our Father, including the return of Jesus, who shall make his glorious appearance above. The righteous people will be called up to meet him in the air. Just as sure as God gives us rainbows to remind us of his presence, Christ will return. Look up and and think about his bountiful, yet to come. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Embrace the word of God and it will guide you in your spiritual faith journey. May God bless us all.
