Sermon Take Away: “I AM”

Scripture: Exodus 3:14; 12:40;14:13-22

God is awesome in all his ways. He is the Creator of all things. He controls all things. He is the earth’s timekeeper. In his time, people are called, people are delivered and people are saved. The children of Israel were in bondage for 430 years. At the appointed time, God called Moses, 80 years of age, to deliver Israel from the Egyptian Pharaoh. God spoke to him in the burning bush. Moses did not feel comfortable for this great mission. He had fear of the great number of people and his lack of speaking ability. He asked God what is his name to tell the people. God responded to Moses to say, “I AM hath sent me unto you.”

The title I AM affirms the sovereignty of God. He is self-sufficient and self-existent. He has control and authority of every situation. His will and power surpasses any human ruler, he is equal to none and answers to none. God knew that Pharaoh was a pagan worshipper and would not believe in him. He hardened his heart and the power of God was manifested in the deliverance of Israel.

Israel was not free from the plagues of Egypt. Moses told them what to do and they lived. God will not take his people from trouble, but he will deliver us out of all troubles. In our troubles is how we see God at work and realize our dependency on him. The power of I AM was manifested in the plaques, the defeat of Pharaoh and his army and the walking through the red sea.

I AM tells us that God is all and all. God is our everything. Omni means all.

1)Omnipotent – all powerful ; 2) Omniscient – all powerful; 3) Omnipresence – everywhere

The deliverance of Israel was the absolute power of God. He remains the same yesterday, today and forever. There is an overwhelm peace in salvation. God’s promise to be with us remains. Believe that God is your everything. Believe him to be I AM.
